PRODUCT DESCRIPTION MasterRoc AG 100 LC is a newly developed CO2-reduced dry powder supplied as single product as Component A for two-components TBM backfill grouts. MasterRoc AG 100 LC only needs to be mixed with water in a standard grout batching plant, pumped in the TBM through transportation lines and finally injected together with the accelerator (Component B) in the tail shield of the machine as current operation applies. The powder has a much reduced carbon foot emission than conventional two-components grouts; it is easy to mix and pump, is flowable over long distance with ensured stability and open time. The new powder offers users a simplified way to batch Component A, with significant reduction of mixing complexity at site (i.e., fewer number of raw materials to supply and less mixing time) and ensures a better controllable quality of the final backfill grout. MasterRoc AG 100 LC is suitable for any TBM project where the provision of two-component grout is foreseen to fill the space between the ground bored by the machine and the external side of the tunnel segmental lining. As single product, it can be stored in any dry silo next to the batching plant located outside the tunnel. MasterRoc AG 100 LC is fully compatible with accelerators such as MasterRoc AGA 370. 4 MasterRoc AG 100 LC Created with One Click LCA PRODUCT LIFE-CYCLE SYSTEM BOUNDARY This EPD covers the life-cycle modules listed in the following table. Product stage Assembly stage Use stage End of life stage Beyond the system boundaries A1 A2 A3 A4 A5 B1 B2 B3 B4 B5 B6 B7 C1 C2 C3 C4 D x x x x MND MND MND MND MND MND MND MND MNR MNR MNR x MNR Raw materials Transport Manufacturing Transport Assembly Use Maintenance Repair Replacement Refurbishment Operational energy use Operational water use Deconstr./demol. Transport Waste processing Disposal Reuse Recovery Recycling Modules not declared = MND. Modules not relevant = MNR. MANUFACTURING AND PACKAGING (A1-A3) The environmental impacts considered for the product stage cover the manufacturing of raw materials used in the production as well as ancillary materials. Also, fuels used by machines, and handling of waste formed in the production processes at the manufacturing facilities are included in this stage. The study also considers the material losses occurring during the manufacturing processes as well as losses during electricity transmission. MasterRoc AG 100 LC is a high-performance dry powder supplied as binder for TBM backfill grouts. The product is transported in bulk. This means the product is delivered in large quantities and usually loaded in trucks (like grains), rather than in separate packaged units. TRANSPORT AND INSTALLATION (A4-A5) Transportation impacts occurred from final products delivery to the construction site (A4) is modelled, assuming a 100 km distance with lorry (<32 tons). The manufacturer recommends the user to recalculate and adjust the results of module A4 to the actual distance for each individual project. The installation of MasterRoc AG 100 LC is not modelled (A5). PRODUCT USE AND MAINTENANCE (B1-B7) This EPD does not cover the use phase. Air, soil, and water impacts during the use phase have not been studied. PRODUCT END OF LIFE (C1-C4, D) The end-of-life modules (C1-C3) are not relevant and omitted from the EPD as the MasterRoc AG 100 LC is permanently placed into the tunnel structure and becomes an integral part of the rock. Therefore, the placing of the product is simultaneously the final deposition and modelled as landfill in (C4). Since the material is not recycled or reused in this EPD, module D is marked as MNR. There are no loads and benefits to be modelled beyond the system boundaries (D).

6 MasterRoc AG 100 LC Created with One Click LCA LIFE-CYCLE ASSESSMENT CUT-OFF CRITERIA The study does not exclude any modules or processes which are stated mandatory in the reference standard and the applied PCR. The study does not exclude any hazardous materials or substances. The study includes all major raw material and energy consumption. All inputs and outputs of the unit processes, for which data is available for, are included in the calculation. There is no neglected unit process more than 1% of total mass or energy flows. The module specific total neglected input and output flows also do not exceed 5% of energy usage or mass. No cut-off was applied in the LCA calculation. All raw materials used were taken into consideration. Manufacture of machinery, buildings, and other infrastructure was not included in the LCA. ALLOCATION, ESTIMATES AND ASSUMPTIONS Allocation is required if some material, energy, and waste data cannot be measured separately for the product under investigation. All allocations are done as per the reference standards and the applied PCR. In this study, allocation has been done in the following ways: Data type Allocation Raw materials No allocation Packaging materials No allocation Ancillary materials No allocation Manufacturing energy and waste Allocated by mass or volume The production of MasterRoc AG 100 LC does not require any co-products that would have required allocation. The data quality is considered high based on collection directly from the manufacturer and well below the cut-off rule. Additional background processes such as transportation and electricity consumption have been modelled using the Ecoinvent v.3.6 LCI database. AVERAGES AND VARIABILITY Type of average No averaging Averaging method Not applicable Variation in GWP-fossil for A1-A3 - This EPD for the specific product MasterRoc AG 100 LC is product and factory specific and does not contain average calculations. LCA SOFTWARE AND BIBLIOGRAPHY This EPD has been created using One Click LCA EPD Generator. The LCA and EPD have been prepared according to the reference standards and ISO 14040/14044. Ecoinvent and One Click LCA databases were used as sources of environmental data.
